The exhibition "Algorithm of Imagination" presents a series of abstract paintings by artist Vera Konis. Working between the structured logic of the high-tech world and the emotional freedom of art, Konis creates a visual language that moves between geometry, color and intuitive expression.

In her solo exhibition Algorithm of Imagination, artist Vera Konis explores the tension between two seemingly distant worlds: the structured logic of high-tech and the intuitive freedom of artistic creation.Konis moves naturally between organized systems and emotional expression, bridging the space between linear reasoning and raw creative impulse. “I have always loved drawing, and I have always loved organizing data in tables,” she reflects. “The second became my career in high-tech, while the first remained an unfulfilled passion.” Over the past decade, in her search for inner quiet, the artist within her resurfaced. What began as an exploration of visual precision gradually evolved into a freer abstract language that seeks to reclaim a childlike gaze.“I reconnected with the child within me,” she says. “I drew inspiration from many sources, including the drawings of my own children. The greatest compliment I can receive is when someone says: ‘This looks like a child’s drawing.’”

For Konis, the “childlike” is not naïve but intentional. It represents a conscious reduction that reveals the complexity hidden within simplicity. Her works move between disciplined geometry and lyrical abstraction, offering viewers a sense of authentic enthusiasm and a sincere search for visual expression. Her artistic sensibility is shaped by a wide cultural background that includes classical music and early exposure to museums. These influences are subtly echoed in her paintings, creating a dialogue with art history while maintaining a distinctly personal interpretation. The viewer becomes aware of this creative search — a dialogue between artistic influence and individuality that ultimately produces a unique visual voice.

The emotional range of Konis’s work emerges through her use of multiple mediums. In watercolor, she explores transparency and airy stains that allow light to breathe through layers of pigment. Acrylic paints enable her to construct solid surfaces while maintaining visual lightness. Oil paint allows her to build rich textures and deeper material presence.

Her shifting choice of materials reflects the dynamic nature of her creative process, moving between the light and the tangible. “My creative process often begins with color,” Konis explains. “Sometimes color becomes a background, and sometimes it becomes the image itself. The image can come from anywhere and often connects associatively with color.” geometry also plays an important role.

“Triangles calm me. They are very stable. They can stand alone, yet they connect beautifully with each other. There are endless types of triangles, and despite their differences they can join together in harmony to create infinite planes.” For Konis, abstract painting requires a profound sense of release.“To create abstraction that works, one must reach a high level of freedom. It is similar to music, sounds that come together to create balance, rhythm and joy.” Within this process she intentionally embraces the imperfect and the raw.“I take the childlike and imperfect gesture and search for a connection to myself rather than to realism. For me, art is a place of release, a therapeutic space filled with power.”

Working within a contemporary cultural environment that allows access to countless artistic traditions, Konis absorbs and echoes these influences into the present while imprinting them with her personal signature. Her works invite viewers to engage in a liberated act of observation ,one that does not seek realistic representation but instead explores emotional depth and authentic aesthetic experience.
